1.  Wedding Dresses

The pecan and fruit orchards and the graffiti streets in the Phoenix Arts District were their favorite places for shoots.  Models posed in her reworked clothes that she sold in boutiques.  One of her models always forgot & wore black undergarments beneath vintage white & cream wedding dresses.

 2.  Pacific Grove, Cali

The cries of seagulls woke them in their attic bedroom.  Through the dining room windows, they watched the ocean crashing while chatting with a couple from London. After breakfast, they pedaled bicycles through Victorian homes by the ocean.  Deer grazed in flower gardens and leapt over the cemetery fence.

 3.  The Manduca sexta

Sometimes the tobacco hornwormcaterpillars reared up and fought with their horns.  When she was done with her research, she put the caterpillars to sleep in the freezer.  Once she forgot to wear goggles, and tobacco plant juice squirted in her eye.  One pupil dilated, and she wore sunglasses for the rest of the day.

4.  Prep School

She wore her white knee-highs with Mary Jane noir pumps and her blue and white plaid prep school skirt.  When she sat down in class, the pleats of her skirt scrawled open with cuss words.

I fell off a barstool and broke my ass.  Busted “cock-six” is how you say it.  It would have been one of those great “This is how we met” stories if my future wife had witnessed the whole scene.  But it’s 8 years too late and she’s already my ex so now it can be her “This is why I left his broke ass” story.  Except what knocked me over was watching all my numbers come up.  My broke ass was 18 million in the Pick 6 rich.

Liza Wyles makes a living in NYC, where she was born and raised, by writing, directing and producing 30 second movies.  Most people call them commercials.
